From one van to Victoria Ave

A man in a van with a plan.

Jason Zook started Smile-A-Mile in the Tri-Cities in 2011 with one van. The company outgrew its first office on Johnson Street, and Jason acted as his own general contractor on the building at 8804 W Victoria Ave, laid out so customers have somewhere calm to pick paint colors. There is an office staff to answer your call and a project manager on every job.

How a job runs

Five steps, in our own words

The same process on a single bedroom or a whole commercial building.

  1. Understanding your project

Who, what, when and where. The four W's come first so both sides know what success looks like.

  2. Estimate

An estimator walks the house, asks questions and makes recommendations, then emails a proposal with process, products and price.

  3. Approval

Say yes with a 50% deposit, then pick colors and a start date with our customer care team.

  4. Prep and paint

Power washing, sanding, priming and masking, then our painters lay down expert lines and the color you chose.

  5. Smile at a job well done

We clean up, take our garbage with us, and hand the house back finished.

What customers noticed

The prep is what people remember.

  1. Taped off the driveway
“They papered and taped off everything, even our concrete and asphalt driveway! I had some questions about how some things were being done because I've never had a house painted before, but a conversation with Chelsea or Josh always set me right.”
Cindi Abbott, Google review, May 2026
  2. No overspray
“They came in even helped me get some issues resolved with my gutters and fascia resolved. They were very clean, no overspray, and were very precise.”
Kevin Law, Google review, May 2026
  3. On time, clean site
“They arrived on time, maintained a clean work environment, and their attention to detail was truly impressive. The transformation of my home is nothing short of remarkable; it looks brand new!”
Troy Brigham, Google review, July 2026
The Smile Affect

Painting it forward, once a year

The community nominates a deserving family and the crew gives them a full exterior repaint. Affect with an A, because of how it touches the people it reaches.

Meet the recipients
“It was more than just a house painting; it was a house makeover.”
Doug Welch, first recipient. He builds wheelchairs for paralyzed dogs, for free. The crew replaced a water-damaged wall, then scraped, masked and painted the whole exterior.
“I think it was a terrific crew, they did a great job, and they enjoyed themselves while doing their job.”
Patricia Wildenborg, 2019 recipient. A schoolteacher, she chose a bright blue, and the crew built her a new ramp too.
