RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR PAINTING

Interior painting with expert lines and paint that helps keep mold out

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinets and millwork, finished with low VOC and antibacterial paint by painters who mask everything they are not painting.

Chapter 01

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and cabinets: what a clean cut line takes

Interior painting is judged where two colors meet. Anyone can roll a wall; the work people notice is the line where the ceiling stops, the baseboard starts and the door casing sits against the wall. Smile-A-Mile's interior crews handle wall painting, ceiling painting, trim work, doors and window trim, baseboards, cabinet painting and detailed millwork finishing, from a single bedroom to a whole-house repaint in Kennewick, Pasco or Richland.

Clean lines start before the brush does. Surfaces get sanded and primed where they need it, and anything that is not being painted is masked with paper, plastic and tape. Then our master painters get to work, and that is where the expert lines and eye-catching colors come from.

Trim, doors and cabinets are the surfaces your hands touch every day, so they get the same prep as the walls, not a quick coat. If you are updating a kitchen, refreshing a living room or getting a house ready to sell, tell the estimator which surfaces matter most and the proposal will spell out the process, the products and the price for each.

Low VOC and antibacterial paint, and why it matters in bedrooms and bathrooms

At Smile-A-Mile we use low VOC and antibacterial paint to help protect your home from mold and mildew and to help stop the growth of bacterial odors. That is our own standard on interior work, and it is worth understanding what it is for.

Bathrooms collect steam, bedrooms hold the air your family breathes for eight hours a night, and kitchens take grease and moisture together. Those are the rooms where a musty smell or a spotted corner tends to start. Low VOC paint keeps the smell of the job itself down, and the antibacterial formulation gives a wall some protection against what grows on it afterwards.

Bring up anything like that at the estimate. The first step of every job is understanding your project, the four W's of who, what, when and where, and that is the moment to talk through which rooms you use most.

Chapter 03

Living through it: what to move, what we cover, what we fix

You do not have to empty the house. We ask customers to move smaller items and pictures away from the walls and any furniture toward the center of the room. We cover and protect your belongings and floors, and we remove the switch plates so the paint goes on the wall and not the plastic.

Before paint goes on, we take care of minor sheetrock settling cracks, fill nail holes and can help with other minor sheetrock repairs. Houses in the Tri-Cities move a little as they settle, and a fresh coat over an unfilled crack only shows it off. Bigger repairs, like a water-damaged wall, go through our construction repairs crew first.

When the work is done we clean up our materials and take our garbage with us. Every interior job is backed by a 2-year warranty on workmanship, under Washington contractor license SMILEP*896CW. Call the office at (509) 987-4774 for a free estimate, virtual or in person.

Choose colors

Pick the color at a table, not in the dark of a paint aisle

Choosing a color can feel overwhelming. We have a Color Visualizer tool, and our color experts run a free in-office color consultation at 8804 W Victoria Ave in Kennewick. We can meet at the paint store or sit down on site, hand you paintable samples to compare on your own walls, and provide a mock-up of your space in the new colors.

Once you approve the proposal with a 50% deposit, our customer care team works with you on color selection and scheduling, and then the five steps run: Understanding Your Project, Estimate, Approval Process, Prep and Paint, and Smile at a Job Well Done.
