About Smile-A-Mile Painting
A man in a van with a plan, and the crew that grew around him.
Jason Zook kickstarted Smile-A-Mile in the Tri-Cities in 2011. Today the company works from its own two-story office on W Victoria Ave in Kennewick, with an office staff that answers the phone and project management on every job.

The building Jason served as general contractor on
The company outgrew its first office at 320 N Johnson St, Suite 900. Jason acted as general contractor on the new 13,200 square foot building at 8804 W Victoria Ave, and Smile-A-Mile occupies a two-story, 3,360 square foot section of it. He wanted a supportive, caring place for people to pick paint colors, which is often the hardest part of a painting project.
Our story
From Oregon to the Tri-Cities
Jason launched the first Smile-A-Mile in Oregon in 2007. When he moved to the Tri-Cities in 2011, he sold the Oregon company to its manager and started over here as a man in a van with a plan. Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and West Richland became home.
By 2018 the crew had grown to 17 people, rising to 22 in the busy season, and the Johnson Street office had run out of room. In Jason’s words to the local business paper, the new building was chosen for “good visibility, a central location and being able to keep expanding.”
The mission hasn’t changed since the van days: complete your painting project the way you want, with exceptional customer service and a personalized experience, so you can smile at a job well done. The company is licensed, bonded and insured, and its Washington contractor license is SMILEP*896CW.
She could see her house from a mile away.
Smile-A-Mile Painting got its catchy name when a customer shared that she could see her newly painted house from a mile away, and it truly made her smile. The yellow smiley on the office sign carries that same idea.

“You Smile, We Smile.”
